Happy Spring everyone! I know it’s been a while since my last post, but there is no shortage of exciting things happening here at Visionary this year. We had a fantastic time in Austin, TX at the 2013 SXSW festival! Armies (the new project featuring Dave Gutter), Aaron Lee and the Love Vigilantes, Lost in a Car Crash and Paranoid Social Club all played the showcase at The Flamingo Cantina. All of our artists put on a great show, and we have received very positive feedback from those who attended. In addition to music industry executives, we even had some VIP guests in the house to watch the showcase including members of The Flaming Lips and How to Destroy Angels.

This was Armies second performance ever (the first being at The Viper Room in Hollywood just a few days prior) and they did not disappoint. Vocalists Dave Gutter and Toni Nicole Shepherd are a contrasting duo in many aspects, complimenting each other well, while the additional backing vocals of Jody Bagley bring tight three part harmonies into play. Highlights from their set included the songs “Come”, “Death” and “At Home”. Be sure to keep an eye out for these guys because this project is on fire!

Aaron Lee & the Love Vigilantes, who just recently moved to Nashville, made the trip to Austin as well. These guys are so energetic and they certainly keep the crowd entertained by continually adding new instruments to their set for an innovative sound. They will be releasing a new EP this summer under Lightyear/Universal, and it was great to hear some of the newly recorded songs in action.

Next up was Lost in a Car Crash: there’s nothing like a bit of room-shaking rock music to compliment your afternoon drinking at SXSW. With their tight vocal harmonies, catchy lyrics and heavy hitting drummer they are sure to grab your attention. Highlights from this set included guest performances from Dave Gutter on “Unashamed” and also Aaron Lee on “Ordinary Girl”. These guys will be releasing their debut album this summer which will also include a song from guest vocalist Tommy Walter of Abandoned Pools, so keep an eye out for that as well!

Paranoid Social Club closed out the showcase with another fantastic set. If you haven’t had a chance to catch these guys live, you are missing out, and I suggest you add it to your bucket list immediately! The room was packed with both longtime fans and new ones alike, and the set list followed suit including tracks from their first album, to tracks from the upcoming album, and everything in between. Their new album, The Listening Party, will be released this summer.

We are happy to announce that the first video from Abandoned Pools

and e-zines. Tommy will also be performing a solo show in Reno, Nevada
at Cargo @Commrow on November 30th. It was been quite some time
